Program Name: L'Oreal Brandstorm Competition
Eligibility: "Only students attending one of the participating universities and/or schools in a participating country may enter. L'Oreal Brandstorm is a game for undergraduate students with an interest in marketing. Students attending an MBA or Doctorate program cannot participate. Undergraduate students must be in the final 2 years of their studies. Students must register in teams of 3 players. Members of a team must all be enrolled at the same school or university. Students are only allowed to register under one team."
Brief Description: The L'Oreal Brandstorm is case competition for teams of 3 undergraduate students to play the role of L'Oreal brand managers and answer a specific business question. Students will have several months to discuss the case question, research the industry and assigned product, and propose recommendations on how best to navigate the challenge at hand. A panel of L'Oreal HR professionals and brand managers will select 1 winning team from each school, who will then compete in New York against other top teams. The team with the best presentation in NYC will be flown to Paris for the international competition and for a chance to win up to 10,000 Euros in prize money.
Program Duration: Up to 9 months (September - June), depending on team's progression in the competition
Application Process: Students must register their teams of 3 on the L'Oreal Brandstorm website in early fall and complete a "pre-case" for preliminary consideration by their school's deadline. Once the pre-cases are screened, the top 5 student teams will be selected to compete against one another on campus for the chance to represent their university at the NYC round.
Miscellaneous: Once the game opens up to all campuses, L'Oreal will not only distribute the business question for one of their products, but also provide more than enough information and reports on general industry trends and the product's background and personality. The challenge is aggregating all of the material into a comprehensive strategy and how best to justify your recommendations using not only the information they provide, but also research that you perform on your own.
L'Oreal will provide resources to the teams that present in New York, including time with a creative agency and face time with current brand managers. There is no cost to enter the competition and opportunities for summer internships with L'Oreal are discussed at all levels of the competition.
More Information: Feel free to reach out directly with questions regarding the competition. For additional information, please refer to the L'Oreal Brandstorm website.
