Eligibility: Interested candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Asian or Pactific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, Black/African American, Indian/Native American, multiracial or multiethnic
- A citizen or pernanet resident of the US (visas are not accepted)
- Currently a college junior, senior, or graduate student at any accredited, degree-granting college or university, or a student attending a participating 4As portfolio school
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0
Brief Description: "The 4A's Multicultural Advertising Intern Program places students in 10-week paid, full-time internships at 4A's member agencies nationwide. It offers those with a serious interest in advertising the opportunity to gain real-world work experience, establish contacts within the industry, and gain a valuable professional credential that can help them gain entry-level employment after graduation. Internships are available in the following advertising agency disciplines: Account Management, Art Direction, Broadcast Production, Copy Writing, Digital/Interactive Design, Media Buying/Planning, Print Production, Project Management, Public Relations, Strategic/Account Planning & Traffic. All interns who successfully complete MAIP attend a graduation and career fair in NYC at the end of the program"
Program Duration: 10 weeks; beginning of June through mid-August. Potential placement locations include Arlington, VA; Atlanta; Austin, TX; Birmingham, MI; Boston; Chicago; Dearborn, MI; Greenville, SC; Kansas City, MO; Miami Beach, FL; Minneapolis; New York; Philadelphia; Pittsburgh; Richmond, VA; San Francisco; Sausalito, CA; Warren, MI
Application Process: Applications are typically due in early December, online. The following materials are required for complete submission:
- Responses toessay questions
- 2 separate letters of recommendation
- A currentunofficial school transcript or degree audit report.
If you are applying for an internship in art direction, copy writing or digital/interactive design, you must also complete a creative assignment and submit a digital portfolio of your advertising/creative work via a Web link or PDF
Miscellaneous: Be prepared to give location preferences during your second round interview. MAIP provides a taxable stipend of ~$70/day by the agency. 4A's also arranges for travel to/from the city where your host agency is located to NYC at the end of the program for the delegates' conference.
