Eligibility: Current U of M students who have access to the Career Center Connector website.

Brief Description: "Immersion Excursions are one day field trips on-site to companies and organizations. Each semester The Career Center hosts approx. 5-6 Immersion Excursions focused on a diverse range of industries. Join The Career Center and a small group of students experiencing a "day in the life". Students have the chance to ask questions to professionals in the field, go "behind the scenes" of a fashion boutique, work through a case study, role play real world problems, develop a PR pitch, create a business plan, network with Michigan alums, and find out about potential job and internship opportunities."

Program Duration: 1 day (usually an entire morning or an entire afternoon on a Friday during the school year); Immersion Excursions are held throughout the school year

Application Process: Applications are reviewed on an Excursion to Excursion basis and will be accepted through the U of M Career Center Connector system only. The application packet typically consists of a resume, statement of interest (~1 or 2 pages) and ranking of interests or preferences (if necessary).

Miscellaneous: Depending on the Immersion Excursion, the Career Center will often times ask for $10 from participants to subsidize the cost of transportation and lunch on site. If the Immersion Excursion is further from campus (in Chicago, for example - for Diversity on LaSalle Street and Diversity in Communications), the Career Center will provide up to $50 in reimbursement for meals, transportation and accommodation. These programs are designed to help students make connections with industry leaders to aid in their internship or full-time job searches.
